L.B. Publishing accepts unsolicited manuscripts for publishing consideration. We will read the first six chapters of your manuscript and only request the full manuscript if we are interested.
Our Selection Process:
We highly vet titles that we consider for publishing. If we have selected your title for publishing, we will email you after the full manuscript review and schedule a time to discuss your book project. A contract is sent after this consultation. Submissions are open to clean women's fiction, contemporary fiction, historical fiction, legal thrillers, crime fiction, cozy mysteries, chit lit, young adult, sci-fi, and non-fiction (no religion or politics). All submissions must be free from the use of profanity or sex.
What We Do Not Publish
We will not consider the following genres: paranormal, erotica, werewolves, zombies, magic, political, cookbooks, children's books, poetry, memoirs, or religious books. Please refrain from submitting manuscripts on these subjects, as they will not be reviewed. Please do not call us with an inquiry. Voicemails will not be returned.
What to Submit to Us:
Send a Query letter via email in one Word doc/PDF that includes the following:
Your legal name
Your pen name
Your mailing address
Your telephone number
Your Bio, Your website (if available)
Synopsis and Blurb:
Please include a book synopsis (overview of the manuscript that includes the opening, main characters, and conflicts, and how the book ends) with no more than 500 words. The blurb is the text that will go on the back of your book. No more than 250 words.
Your Manuscript:
Please include the first six chapters of your manuscript (12 pt, Times Roman, Double-Spaced) in your submission packet to us.
Social Media:
Please include your social media stats.
Royalties:
Our authors earn well above industry standards. You will earn 20% (based on the total net profits we receive from each book (digital, paperback, hardcover) in royalties (royalties checks begin once a minimum of $50.00 in sales has been reached and are sent on a quarterly basis). We provide full reporting of every copy sold on a quarterly basis. Our eBook distributor collects 10% (they make your eBook available for Libraries to purchase, and more).
Purchasing Copies of Your Book: Authors are not required to purchase copies of their book. As part of our publishing contract, you will receive 10 complimentary copies. Should you wish to order additional copies for events such as book fairs or signings, you will only pay the actual printing cost plus any shipping and handling fees charged by the printer. We never mark up author copies—what we are charged is exactly what you pay.
Books can be shipped to any residential or commercial address within the United States.
After the first year of publication, there is a $25 annual fee to remain in the Ingram distribution system (our direct cost), and a $50 annual fee for hosting and maintaining your author website if it was created by us. If your book sells 200 or more copies in its first year, we will cover your website hosting and domain costs. Authors who manage their own websites will be responsible for their own associated expenses. We will continue promoting your book through social media, newsletters, and other marketing efforts beyond the first year.
Our titles are published in digital formats (Kindle & Nook), paperback, and hardcover with a dust jacket. Please note: we accept electronic submissions only. Do not mail printed manuscripts unless specifically requested, as they will not be reviewed.
